HALO: Hybrid Actor’s Laboratory Optimum

Cutting edge techniques + good old-fashioned scene study.

Welcome to my Hybrid Actor’s Laboratory Optimum (HALO), an inspiring 8-week journey where we seamlessly blend online acting techniques with traditional in-person scene study.

HALO is about learning to be present online, but enjoying the deep work of in-person scene study. This class has it all. Great for both screen and stage performers, and especially good for those wondering how they blend both worlds.

Yes, you really can have it all.

Our adventure begins online as you delve into work-shopping a monologue from an assigned contemporary script, which we will record to help track your progress throughout the course.

Once we’ve mastered monologues, I’ll pair you with a scene partner for a series of in-person scene study classes. This part of the course includes table reads, blocking, dress rehearsals, and a final performance in front of a live studio audience.

This course is my passion project, meant to make actors feel both confident in knowing they are learning tried-and-true technical skills, but also artistically invigorated. It’s almost impossible to find a class that offers both an industry advantage and a chance to do deep, creatively enriching storytelling. Luckily, HALO is that class.

Frequently Asked Questions
HALO blends modern online acting techniques with traditional in-person scene study. Our goal is learning how to uncover the essence of the human experience through the art of acting and storytelling.

This involves understanding your own humanity to the fullest, empowering you to breathe life into your character’s narrative. You are your character’s greatest advocate. And together, we’ll work diligently to authentically capture your unique perspective on the characters through your choices.

We also address various challenges modern-day artists face, especially when it comes to maintaining artistic integrity no matter what real world challenges arise.

Classes generally last around 3 hours, and are a combination of online and in-person.

In the first 4 weeks, you’ll work on monologues from a contemporary script, all online. The second 4 weeks shift to in-person scene study with a partner.

All monologues are recorded to help track growth throughout the course, as well as for any marketing purposes and there is a final performance in front of a live studio audience.

Actors should do at least one thing for their craft and one thing for their career everyday. DAPS are at-home exercises meant to cultivate good craft and career habits while promoting an actor’s healthy mind, body, and spirit. They can include voice & speech warmups, meditations, reading assignments, youtube videos, podcasts, and more.
At the end of the term students are invited to book a FREE 25-minute Craft & Career Consult with me. I will review your actor materials (Actor’s Access Page, Headshots, Reels, Resumes, etc) and offer guidance for the next steps on your artistic journey. This is an opportunity for you to strategize with a mentor, so it is always good to come in with specific questions prepared.
Instead of audits, prospective students are encouraged request more information HERE.
Students tend to vary in ages from 16-50, providing a wide range of scenes to cast from and giving actors more opportunities to perform with a wide variety of scene partners.
Yes, students have the option of splitting tuition payments into 1, 2, or 3 installments, which can be selected during checkout when you register for a class.

Additionally, we offer a refer-a-friend discount program. Invite an actor friend to join class, have them use your name as a referral, and if they sign up, you will receive a discount on classes.

There are no make-up sessions at this time. However, should you miss an evening of class, there will be class recordings, plus plenty of supplemental materials and resources going over what was taught that night to ensure you don’t feel lost.

I also offer a FREE 25-Minute Private Online Craft & Career Counseling Session as a bonus at the end of the term.

Unlike my other courses, HALO is exclusively for intermediate to advanced actors who have a strong foundation but need to level-up.

Beginning actors are strongly encouraged to take Art Of Acting Online (AOAO) for at least 3 terms before signing up for HALO.
